Congratulations New Amateur Radio Operators

The weekend of the 29 & 30th March six members of Air Stream Wireless attended Amateur Radio Foundation License course and examination. I'm pleased to announce all passed and are now awaiting the arrival of their new license and call sign.

Congratulations to all attended and many thanks to Paul Hoffman and team of accessors.

Air-Stream-Torrensville

A special gift from the Easter Bunny with another milestone being reached on the Easter Holidays. Helping the continued push to Go West with the successfully find of a new shinny egg at Torrensville. This is the first time a connection has been successfully made into the Torrensville area and it is hoped to be only one of many new sites to come, as the new nodes at Fulhum Gardens and Grange also come online.

Torrensville is now fully operational with a dedicated backbone link to Carrick Hill and Superpass Omni for member access in and around the area.

2008 WIA Amateur Radio Call Book

Jacqui Deering, (cougar) - VK5KFM Amateur Radio Amateur liaison and Sub-Committee Representative is now taking orders for the 2008 WIA Amateur radio call book.

For those who are not yet familiar with Amateur Radio and "the Callbook" as its known , this manual is effectively the White Pages phone book for Amateur radio operators, repeaters and Club stations for ALL licensed Australian Amateur radio operators. It also contains lots of other useful information and a CD version of the callsign listings.

AirLive WN-5000R Review - 802.11n

Airlive Logo
Air-Stream Wireless is very pleased to announce that AirLive, OvisLink Corp have provided two of their new WN5000R 802.11n wireless routers to put through their paces. With the success of our initial review of the 802.11n standard we have kept looking for other user-friendly equipment to conduct further field tests and the AirLive WN-5000R seems to certainly fit the bill.

WN5000R

The units operate on a standard 12V supply ideal for PoE and have the added feature of operating in AP Bridge Mode providing a great opportunity for point to point tests without need of firmware hacks or fussing with software drivers. AirLive also offer an extensive range of both indoor and outdoor wireless products, founded in 1993 they produce over 200 products in hundreds of locations around the world. Although not yet available in Australia we feel that it won’t be long before they are, as AirLive have had the forethought to include many features useful to the wireless enthusiast and professional alike, that other more familiar brands leave out.
