This weeks Floss-Weekly podcast features "Village Telco"

(Haven't listened to it yet)
Guests are Steve Song and Terry Gillett.
Terry was the person that bought BATMAN-ADV to the Mesh Potato project - extending MP from a voice-only solution - allowing you to do stuff like this:

A cute feature I like about the mesh potato: PC not required - setup can be done from a plain old phone.

Interactive Panoramas, For Free!

So you've seen Panoramic Pictures, you've even found some on websites that are interactive! But alas when you've looked into the program that creates them, its been expensive and difficult to create.

Well no more! Microsoft have added some functionality to their FREE Panoramic stitching utility called 'Microsoft ICE' (Image Composition Editor), which now lets you export into a format called 'HD ViewDeep Zoom'.

This allows you to create an html webpage in which you can view your panoramic image interactively.
Microsoft also give you the code to embed your Interactive Panoramic Image into another webpage... like this one!
(Note: You will need to download the HD View plugin to see these, you will be prompted when you load the image)

For better viewing, adjust the following: (I Personally pick the last option)

Tone Adjustment:

There are three tone adjustment modes. You can switch between modes with the following icons in the upper right corner of the screen or by using the 'T' or 'shift'-'T' short-cut key.

No Adjustment
Exposure Only Adjustment
Compress or Expand the Dynamic Range as necessary

So I present a couple of Interactive Panoramic Images from two of our Sites on Air-Stream. I have many, many more Panoramic sets from the sites over the years... but here is a teaser to get you excited :)

AutismSA strengthening communities and skills for people with Asperger's

ASlan Computers

AutismSA, with the support of Community Benefit SA, are offering a unique computer training opportunity for people with Asperger's. To achieve this, AutismSA has teamed up with two very different community organisations to run a free training program for people who may have difficulty participating in other formalised training environments.

ASlan 11

The result is an outstanding training course where participants learn real-world skills in computer construction alongside a fun social event. Participants will have the opportunity to apply what they have learned as well as to interact with peers in the broader community who share common interests.

The printers rang..

Yes the printers rang late last week and I need to go pickup the first test run. Then we can decide what stickers we want to print propper and do a bulk run. Its been a while in the making =)

The printers haven't called yet!

We've been talking about getting stuff printed for some time. Including but not limited to more shirts, ID cards, stickers and other stuff.

Its been really good to see the t-shirts roll out recently. Last week we got the ID cards printed and laminated. However I was hoping to get some stickers ready today...

The printers haven't called yet! Perhaps next meeting =)

Slides and other goodies from the Community Wireless Miniconf

Well I've finally landed back home after a little break after the conference. I've also put the slides and other materials up here.

Linux.Conf.Au 2008, Community Wireless Miniconf, The Miniconfs make the news...

Well it had to happen sooner or later, I'm pleased to see that the media is slowly waking up to the importance of the Linux and FOSS community along with the up coming Linux Conference...

It was nice to see the news on ITWire; linux.conf.au: Getting the smalltalk on the road.

Hopefully we will see more interesting news pop up on ITWire and elsewhere in the media.

Registrations are still open for Linux.Conf.Au, but the early bird discounts have finished.

More information on the Community Wireless Miniconf.
