Meeting Minutes 30th Maty 2007

1) Welcome and Introduction
A number of new people attended and all round a good meeting.

2) Guest Speaker - Andrew White (dronus) from southernwifi.net favicon
Andrew’s presentation was great and he brought along a number of home brew items. Southern Wifi seem to have many similarities with Air-Stream Wireless and share many of the same values, goals and history of wireless fun.

All attending agreed we had much in common and look forward to some fruitful developments working together to further community wireless networking in South Australia.

3) ASLAN Events
Paul Ridley, gave a run down on the ASLAN events coming up and they look to be quite a bit of fun. More information here about ASLAN

4) Network Updates - Network Information
Robert ran through the current progress on the network and information on the recent installations at Skye3 and O’Halloran Hill .

He also conducted a survey on the networks across the country and has confirmed that since joining to Southern Wifi we can officially say South Australia currently hosts the largest Community Wireless Network in Australia! This is based on the number of Active AP, backbones links and area covered by the network.

Projects coming up included:

Mawson Centre Stage 2
Northfield - Upgrade
UniSA Magill Campus – new project
O’Halloran Hill Stage 2 – new backbones to Fulham Gardens and Southern Wifi
Fulham Gardens - Upgrade

Call for new sites to support redundancy links between North and Western suburbs

Ideas needed to raise more funds to support a rapidly growing network.
