The UltraWAP has a
The UltraWAP has a poor-man's stumbling tool built in. Not as good as the real netstumbler.
1) Set mode to Station Infrastructure, and Apply
2) Select the button that says Site Survey (I think?)
3) Press Refresh
You should see a list of APs that it has heard. Signal stength is in units that seem to go 100=max, 1=minimum.
Hope that helps.

You can scan in any mode, just go to wlsurvey.asp
Netstumbler and ethernet devices
Netstumbler does not work with ethernet devices, they are only as good as what is put on them
sorry
at the moment there is no facility for what you seek.
theoretically, with a homebrew version of linux it should be possible to have a kismet drone running, but that would depend on the drivers for the radio supporting it, oh, and many hours of devel !
As it stands, the web interface is all you've got.
kismet drone
If that was possible dont you think that someone would have done that with the Minitar MNWAPB a long time ago?
It IS possible. I have the
It IS possible. I have the SDK for the RTL8186 so potentially any linux app that can fit in the small memory can be added in. The RTL8181 had a custom homebrew linux ver on it (http://rtl8181.sourceforge.net/), so why not the RTL8186?
The source code for kismet is available, so it could quite probably be ported to the RTL8186, if it doesnt already support the MIPS processor.
the only ingredient that is in short supply is time. Shortly my time will be divided between a PSP homebrew project - think netstumbler - but you must ask yourself if it really is worth it to spend so much time developing for a device so limited when there are much better platforms out there. Dont get me wrong, the ultraWAP has its place, but it just may be that its place is being just an UltraWAP.
RTL8186 SDK
I have been looking for the SDK for the RTL8186 for some time. I need to get into Ovislink WL 5460 and turn it into a router. I used to do this with Ovislink WL 1120, which is unfortunately out of market.
I have been unable to locate any sutiable SDK. I only see the SDK for RTL8181. I came accross this site and your message by typing "RTL8186 SDK" into Google. Is the SDK it free? Wehre can I get it? Can you share it?
Thanks,
Robert

Many thanks :)
I suppose I will stick with wlsurvey until a capable type like HaQue has some spare time :)
The extra details are certainly useful to me.
