I picked up a Minitar MWGAP today (specs here http://www.minitar.com/index.php?maincat=product&cat=wireless&prod=w_mwgap&page=3) just to see what it would do.
From talking to daniel the other day, I believe that the issue with the minitar was that they didn't make one that could go into client mode?
Anyway after having a look, it appears it can run in the following modes: AP, client, WDS, AP + WDS. It also has settings to clone MAC addresses and stuff so I think it can be invisible. iirc I saw a diagaram showing how the network works and the AP needs to be invisible/transparent (or similar name) so that the MAC is uses is that of the PC connecting.
I understand that this is ramblings as I dont know the terminology that I need to use, nor can i reference the old minitar for comparison.
I'll bring it along on Wednesday so someone who does know what they are talking about can have a look to see if they are useful of not.

Client Mode and Cloning
If it can run in client mode, do mac cloning and it is cheap sounds alright to me, please bring it along to the meeting, we'll have plenty of stuff to do a test.
RRP is $109 but I didnt pay

Simple and Easy!
If these perform well I think they should be promoted as a simple client setup solution. Its good for people who are first setting up and those who dont know all that network/routing/openwrt crap (like myself) that everyone talks about. Its a cheap and simple set and forget wireless gateway device that can be put on the roof with PoE and short coax run.
I'm still running a Minitar MNWAPB after 3 years, simple and works, you cant beat that for a reliable client setup.
