Has anyone tried a booster or amp/receive-preamp combo for WIFI?
I did find this while looking around the melb wireless site a while ago and they are still available in NZ
DSE 2.4GHz (802.11) Booster - 500mW

Great Price
I've used theses quite a bit, work best when both sides have an amp, or from a low gain antenna with amp to a high gain antenna with no amp.
This unit is quite a good price and claims to work in b and g modes which most don't.
Main issues most for most users are the regulations see:

But as a licenced Amateur this limit may not apply :-)
More Thoughts
Hmm.. Input power 6mW – 100mW
This makes an exellent way to upgrade those old 35mw DLW520 without changing anything.
Put it in a water proof box up the mast and run coax down to a PCI card inside as there is plenty of overhead to loose signal.
Good find.. :-)
but you need to run dc power
but you need to run dc power to them dont you? does it really end up being cheaper than buying a more powerfull device.
even 60mw pci cards are pretty cheap these days arent they?
power
there is no reason you could not pjhantom power it over the coax the same as TV masthead amps, just have to get the injection and filter (mast end) values right for 2.4G

boosters
Have a look at these Repotec models:
REPOTEC
RP-WR1102G 200mW
RP-WR1102G/5 500mW
are the DSE ones rebadged Repotecs?
they look identical even the specs are the same so maybe the DSE ones are rebadged Repotecs only difference I can see is the connectors are diffrent on the DSEs
and Matssys is cheaper !!!!
i saw them on the site
i saw them on the site earlier today, have you tested them at all matssys ?
