I'll admit stright away that I don't know as much as I should about the Air-Stream network in relation to who is connected to who, what the extent of each of the sites connections are and where all the backbones are.
I know I can find most of it out by spending some time on the NodeDB and reading the forums, so thats not the topic of my post.
It seems to me we have 3 or more "seperate" Air-Stream networks at the moment, taking nodes and AP's as equal("etc" means Im not sure of what else!).
1) ottoway,ridleyton, samiam etc
2) Woodville-West, APANA, Carrick-Hill etc
3) Pasedena etc
APANA is accessible the
APANA is accessible the Pasadena\Skye\etc side
Additionally, dont forget we have sebbynet and co (ie Didz and Meekys)hanging off Seaton
Also,
3) would include Skye, Walkerville, Melrose Park (I think) and Julia-Farr
Im pretty sure Ottoway used to connect to Pasadena but I wouldnt quote me on that.

but quality of links tends to be more important than the number of links
In fact less stable links are better than a whole heap of flaky links
Some of the links are less than 100KB/s
Some of the links dont work well when couriering traffic from a neighbouring link due to cross talk
Some links only work well outside of office hours
There are plans to put up another link out of Ridleyton, but where to is the question?
Region X:
Ridleyton-Ottoway-Northfield-Salisbury
Region Y:
Pasadena-Julia Farr-Optcom-Walkerville-Skye-Melrose Park-Carrick Hill
Pasadena Ottoway link has aligned antennas, and in the past with good radios was able to do around 200KB/s in both directions
I am not sure what is preventing this link happening again.

We have had some driver problems with the two Senao 200mw cards operating together on the Routerboard4 PCI Card seen here. This also effects the omni performance. There maybe an issue with the pigtails they are easily damaged, and recent attempts to trace the problem may have damaged these.
If we could fix these card/driver issues Pasadena would be a killer site.
Stumbles show it is still possible to connect Ottoway. However my feeling is that a closer link for Ottaway would be better eg APANA.
Which leads me to think we need to further upgrade APANA to support more backbone clients
Two Neworks
There are two main networks atm which we need to connect suggestions and particullarly help wellcome. As I think the only isses have been time, access and available people, to make this happen.
Anyway this is the current state of play:
Network 1
Ridleyton, Ottoway and Northfield. Soon to be connected is Elizabeth (watertower) and Urbray.
Network 2
Pasadena, Melrose, Julia Farr, Carrick Hill, Fullam Gardens, Henley Beach, Sebbynet, Grange, Optcom, Skye, APANA and Walkerville all are connected. Soon to be connected is Ohalloran Hill TAFE and Southern Wifi Network.
The candidates are :
Pasadena to Ottoway (has been done in past)
APANA to Ridleyton
APANA to Ottoway
A long short but LOS confirmed Skye to Elizabeth
