I have put up a webcam for those interested in looking out some random window of mine:

The actual camera was plugged into my laptop. The cgi wgot the image off of the remote machine via a wifi link. The html code simply refreshed every 5 seconds. Now it's plugged into my G3 wifi router and refreshes every 3 seconds.
Enjoy!

Non-Streaming WebCam
For those who feel to grab (via wget) frames feel free - assuming all is humming ...

.. "s" stands for second(s) of course
Sorry brightness control seems problematic - lest my googling on spcacat et. al. has been off target - I have sunglasses in the mean time. Content is also multihomed to the 'net.
What software are you using to do the web cam thing?
I can't see it from here, but I was wondering what software you use and how you are preseting that ... ?
Bash Script
Love it when the "Subject" gives the response required :-) Please excuse the inordinate delay in getting back to your question!
To be more specific my WebCam is running on the gspcav1-20070508 driver (http://mxhaard.free.fr/download.html) and has only recently been added as a supported camera - previous to that it was a real show stopper when trying to run up the viewing software - frozen Debian machine - ouch! Runs great now except that the auto brightness does not work, I solved my whited out daytime image by taping a couple of sunglassess's lenses over the front of the WebCam!
Right now the WebCam is simply refreshing via a html meta tag every 3 seconds. The utility to actually run the WebCam is spcacat which can be downloaded from the above url, the command I use looks like ...
spcacat -d /dev/video0 -g -f jpg -s 640x480 -p 3000 -oI will probably write another simply bash script to check if spcacat is actually running and place a "WebCam up/down" notification - would be nice to have a button to remove the sunglassess's lenses as well for at night :-/
New Webcam Computer
The WebCam has been successfully installed onto my G3 PPC wifi routing box and you can have a look by following the link from my front page at http://betsuin.apana.wan/ (10.121.128.98 if DNS is down). The WebCam should be pretty much a permanent feature now that I have moved it off of my laptop - the only minor inconvienence is that I can no-longer easily move the WebCam around ..
Enjoy!
