Net Side Japan

Cozy in Japan with my EeePC, the apartment we are renting comes with an RJ45 jack in the wall that appears to be an optical fibre connection to the internet thru http://www.alpha-net.ne.jp/ (Japanese only) --- very nice!

Downloads aren't startling however initial 5% of an ubuntu iso from http://www.ftp.ne.jp/Linux/packages/ubuntu/releases-cd/ came down at 2~3MB/sec! after that it dropped down to around 700~800KB/sec which is what I get off of the Adam servers.

Ping times are about half of what I see from Adelaide.
