Since putting the Gawler South AP in operation, which at the moment is a Bullet2 with an 8 dB omni, my TV reception was plagued with noise. It was more noticeable on the digital channels (analog can pretty much put up with anything) and only 7 and 9 were watchable. ABC, 10 and One were unwatchable (not sure about SBS, I don't have a UHF antenna).
Two solutions came to mind to fix this issue:
1) Move the AP, as it's mounted under my TV antenna, however this would require a new mast
2) Wrap the Bullet in alfoil
The second came to mind because most installs I've seen with the RB boards are mounted in metal boxes to reduce noise interfering with the board. So I hopped up on the roof today to give it a whirl as the alfoil option was cheaper and less labour intensive. And would you know it! All channels are now completely watchable!
From this, anyone thinking of installing a bullet should probably do this if they're going to mount it near their TV antenna. This could be something more noticeable to me as Gawler is classed as a fringe TV reception area.

Side note: only wrap the bullet itself, don't wrap the omni!

Alfoil hats all round!

Wounderful Story
Great story and thank you for sharing it with us.
another solution??
Move the TV antenna.
Or at least get some more physical separation between the two
If you did not upgrade your TV antenna when you went digital it is possibly substandard.
Or stop watching TV :)
Would some sort of empty can (ex food) be more robust than foil?
Does the TV antenna need re aiming?
heh, this is an old blog
heh, this is an old blog and all the solutions that you've mentioned are ones I've pursued. The alfoil was, and only ever was intended as, a temporary fix which worked well! See my other blogs for what my setup is now.

Silly me.
Seems I am still struggling to work out how people use the site.
If you wait until things are perfect until you have a go you will never do anything.
