I'm new - here is my setup

Hi,

I'm new to Airstream and fairly new to all this wireless stuff!

Here are a couple of photo's of my setup. I'm trying to get connected to VK5tty. I have good LOS and my AP is connecting with a good signal, but there's no data flow. I think the router has locked up at VK5TTY.

Here's a picture of VK5TTY from my roof - you can't really make it out from this shot, but you can see it with binoculars.

and here is a picture of the antenna. It's a 24dbi grid, orientated for horizontal polarization. It's attached to a Minitar MNWAPB in station-infrastructure mode. I'm using PoE up to it (commerically bought). The AP is in a polycarbonate box inside the roof space. For mounting, I used a satellite gutter mount. Those things are so easy to install - it's literally slide up 3 tiles, put the mount in place and slide the brackets out till they hit rafter, then drill 2 holes for the bolts, put the bolts in and 4 screws and you're done. I bought the gutter mount from Hills Antenna. They were very friendly and helpful.

I've also managed to stumble morphettvale.southernwifi.net and aberfoyle.southernwifi.net, so I hope to connect to them too, as soon as I get my macs added to their filtering.

Next time I'll just use a standard ethernet cable and make my own PoE cable as the run to it is less than 20 metres. I'd like to try an Ultrawap for connecting to either of the southernwifi sites as they are over much longer distances. Morphettvale AP is 5.6 km as the crow flies.
