So I've been thinking about what services I need to put up on my node(s).
You know there is the now old saying, "Content is King", there are references
on wikipedia, that describes what this means. In a nutshell its, people come back
to you web site if there is interesting or relevant content.
There is also the community factor to, maybe its not just the content but the
community that contributes the content.
Anyhow, so I've been scribbling down ideas for services to put up on the
server attached to the node. Obviously a web server, Jabber, VoIP ... erm ...
What else do folks use on their nodes and use from other peoples nodes?

Content
I've had fun playing with cgi programming (bash script, mostly awk) consequently I have a few web apps accessable from my web server ... Air-Stream ftp & http server finder, Adelaide regions map creator, traceroute/nmap front end etc...
I also run nagios and ntop which produce useful information regarding "the network".
Beyond that I have an ftp server and a warsow (game) server, was running a webcam but my camera isn't supported just yet with V4L2 and have yet to invest enough time to get it back up and running.
As to how useful the above are to Air-Stream users I don't know... I don't seem to get a lot of hits on my Air-Stream box. Personally, I hit the nagios page semi-regularly as I can gauge how "up" the network is .. nice ;-)

Nagios
Nagios was not something I'd thought about much.
I suppose that Cricket, MRTG, Nagios and friends are probably quite useful for getting an idea of the "health" of the surrounding parts of the network.
I was thinking about services that you use from other members sites/nodes.
Anyhow maybe we can have a bit of a discussion about it at the meeting this evenen.
I'll have a look at the nagios site tonight when I get to the meeting.
