Managing the APs with a PIC.

Been investigating ideas around using a PIC or two to monitor or manage the APs in the weatherproof box up the mast.

Applications;

  • Monitoring line voltage for the AP - record, reset, sound alarm
  • Monitor temporature inside/outside the weather proof box. - record, shutdown, sound alarm
  • Monitor moisture/humidity - record, shutdown, sound alarm

PIC programming;

PIC hardware;

In what way?

PICs are way cool - may I enquiry how you might invisage a PIC to interface to an AP?
I first cut my teeth, so to speak, machine coding (6502) many years ago - PICs are just so retro-techno-useful today ;-)

ideas

ross,

main ideas right now are monitoring the APs environment.

i like roberts parrallel port controlled device that resets the minitar APs, and was thinking about a little more than ping->reset power.

but as always its a bit experimental with old hardware.
so far the APs have been up for weeks at a time in between me
reconfiguring them for varios activities, but thats inside the
house and not in a hot/cold box in the rain/wind/sun.

cheers,

adhoc

Love the PICs
