This post marks the opening of the call for presentations to the inagural Community Wireless and Connecting Community in Australia miniconf for 2008. The official program for the miniconf is located at the miniconf site. I will be keeping folks posted about changes on my blog here on the Air-Stream site.

The miniconf will be held in conjunction with the Linux.conf.au at the University of Melbourne (map), thanks to Linux Australia and the Mel8ourne LCA team for supporting this amazing opportunity for Australia wireless communities to converge.

Because this is the first Community wireless miniconf, the aim is to enable all the Australian community wireless groups to meet up and share all the good and bad ideas that did and didn't work for them. As the miniconf has a whole day, before the main conference, we have a number of slots for 10, 20, 30 & 50 minute presentations, to suit all levels of skill for presentation. This is my first time organising a miniconf, so don't be worried if this is your first time talking at one, There is much to be learned presenting at an event like this and you never know where it might lead you =)

Folks love demos! I've done a few and know how stressful but satistfying they are to deliver on the day. So, if you've got some awesome demos, don't hold back, remember pratice ;) Theres room for workshops too!

Please read through the program topics, work out an abstract and the length of your presentation and then email kim dot hawtin at adelaide dot edu dot au if you would like to submit a proposal for a presentation.
